Colorado Student Assessment Program (CSAP)The Colorado Department of Education (CDE) administers CSAP to give parents, the public, and educators a uniform source of information about how well students and schools are achieving in relationship to the Colorado model content standards. SWAAAC Teams become involved with the Colorado Student Assessment Program (CSAP) by ensuring that students with disabilities have access to the same accommodations that they commonly use during regular instruction. Accommodations are changes made to the standardized assessment procedure that provide a student with access and equal opportunity when taking the CSAP. Accomodations that might be used are described in the following document from the Colorado Department of Education. (You will need to have access to Adobe Acrobat in order to read this document.) Accommodations and the CSAP (PDF)
If you would like more information, read these documents on the CSAP created by the Colorado Department of Education. Again you will need access to Adobe Acrobat in order to read them. CSAP-ASome students will be eligible to take the CSAP-Alternate (CSAP-A). The IEP team determines if a child participates in this alternate assessment. The CSAP-A assesses emerging skills related to the Colorado Content Standards. SWAAAC Teams are involved with these individual students access needs because of their high need for modifications and reliance on specialized equipment and assistive technology. Digital assessment content is provided to the SWAAAC Team Coordinator so that they can program it into students’ communication devices or produce it in formats that are familiar to or usable by a particular student. Special Educators who provide services to this low-incidence population are the professionals who are responsible for the administration of the CSAP-A. During their trainings from CDE on the administration of the CSAP-A, these teachers are directed to contact their local district SWAAAC Coordinator as a resource for implementing these modifications and given their current information. If you would like more information on the CSAP-A, use Adobe Acrobat to read the following document created by the Colorado Department of Education. Please refer to the following Colorado Department of Education website for complete information on this statewide student assessment: http://www.cde.state.co.us/index_assess.htm If you would like to contribute information that you have found helpful to this page, please contact SWAAAC team member, Marcia Blum, with your suggestions. Give her the information or the address of the site and tell her what you liked about the resources you found there. Last Updated: April 25, 2007
