These PowerPoint presentations have been build by SWAAAC Team members around the state. Each title is followed with a short description of the presentation. Note: Some of these presentations are VERY large (note the size in KB or MB). If you have a dial-up connection to the Internet, they may be too large to download. Many of these presentations are on the SWAAAC CD or you may also request them burned on a CD from the SWAAAC support staff. Do you need PowerPoint Viewer?If you do not have the application, PowerPoint, on your computer you can still see them. Anyone can download a free copy of PowerPoint Viewer from the MicroSoft website. With Viewer you can see and print PowerPoint presentations but you cannot change them. 1. This training highlights the components of an effective assessment. 2. Introduction to the PCThis PPT presentation (924 KB), created by Brian Simms, formerly at AT Partners, covers the basics of using a personal computer. This is a presentation created for the 2002 SWAAAC conference. 3. Making Toy AdaptationsThis PPT presentation (1MB), created by Brian Simms, formerly at AT Partners, covers the steps needed to successfully adapt toys. 4. Go Ahead, Make My Day Easier: Consultation Strategies for Effective Teaming, Leadership & CollaborationThis PPT presentation (304 KB) on consultation strategies, created by Maureen Melonis, AT Specialist and Speech-Language Pathologist at AT Partners, includes the definition of and the roles of a consultant, the 8 phases of consulting, and the challenges of consulting. 5. Legal Issues and Assistive TechnologyThis PPT presentation (702 KB), covers IDEA, Section 504, the ADA and Assistive Technology. This presentation was given by Randy Chapman, an attorney for The Legal Center for People with Disabilities and Older People, at the workshop: “SWAAAC 101”. This presentation includes legal definitions of AT services, information about how to get AT written into an IEP, and some of the new IDEA reauthorization regulations.. 6. Introduction to Assistive Technology: An Overview of Assistive TechnologyThis PPT presentation (14.2 MB) on AT is divided into the following categories: communication, vision, hearing, learning and cognition, motor and access, and seating and positioning. Handouts of this slide show can be printed for participants. The curriculum also comes with a Facilitator’s Guide in (761 KB) PDF format (for use by the presenter) that contains a script for what the presenter says and does during each slide in the presentation and a description of the materials and/or equipment needed throughout the presentation. 7. Introduction to IntellikeysThis PPT presentation (2 MB) provides an intro to the Intellikeys keyboard for both the classic and USB versions. It is designed as a hands-on training so it needs to be scheduled in a computer lab where every individual has access to a keyboard. This presentation also comes with "Facilitator's Notes" (a 1 MB PDF file) to help you make this presentation. This presentation is useful even for advanced Intellikeys users. 8.
