Getting Hands-on with Accessible Educational Materials

Whether you prefer commercial software, free and open source tools or some combination thereof, the age old challenge remains - How to quickly and efficiently get accessible versions of print materials into the hands of your students with learning disabilities when and where they are needed.  This day-long, hands-on session will focus where the rubber meets the road. Attendees will be guided through the configuration of software and services focusing on products from Kurzweil, Don Johnston, and TextHelp Systems as well as free extensions and apps for Chrome OS and iOS.  Once configured, attendees will engage hands-on with literature titles, textbooks, exams, handouts, worksheets and more all the while discussing their experiences and problem solving for their particular needs. Practice makes perfect so ample time will be allotted to creating accessible materials. Less theory, more practice…. That’s the idea.
