Simplifying AAC in the Classroom to Develop Early Literacy Skills & Assistive Technology Partners Open Lab

  • SWAAAC Central Office 1201 5th St, Suite 240 Denver, CO 80204 (map)

This course will provide participants with an in depth overview of modeling, core vocabulary and basic skills to integrate literacy in the classroom. In order to increase communication for students using AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) devices, it is important to develop reading and writing skills for these individuals. In addition, reading and writing are critical to academic success. Participants will learn strategies to increase communication and gain new skills to incorporate AAC in academic settings. Additionally, participants will learn about tools used successfully in the classroom.

Immediately following the Saltillo sponsored training, the SWAAAC program will offer an Open Lab opportunity for hands-on experiences with the Loan Library’s Saltillo devices.
